Clinical evaluation of the effectiveness of treatment of chronic catarrhal gingivitis in children with oligophrenia

| dc.description | Summary. The prevalence of inflammatory diseases of periodontal tissues in children with psychoneurological disorders reaches 100 %. Dental care for such children requires a special approach, and traditional methods of treatment and prevention of inflammatory diseases of periodontal tissues should be improved to takeing into consideration the clinical status of children with oligophrenia. The aim of the study – to work out and evaluate clinically the effectiveness of a complex of measures for the treatment of chronic catarrhal gingivitis in children with oligophrenia. Material and Methods. The study included 54 children aged 12 years with I grade oligophrenia with chronic catarrhal gingivitis (HCG). The main group included 26 children, 28 children formed a comparison group. Treatment of HCG in children of the main group was carried out according to the work out complex, which included exogenous and endogenous measures. In children of the comparison group, HCG treatment was performed in accordance to the regional protocols for dental care. Evaluation of the effectiveness of complex therapy of HCG in the study groups was carried out after 1, 6, 12 and 24 months on the basis of clinical changes, paraclinical indices, the level of oral hygiene. Results and Discussion: The results of the study showed that after two years the application of treatment and prevention complex, there was revealed that number of children from main group with stabilization of periodontal tissues decreased comparing to the beginning of the observation. However, in children of the comparison group this indicator was lower more than 1.5 times. The effectiveness of the proposed treatment and prevention complex in children with oligophrenia and with inflammatory processes of periodontal tissues was also revealed in the dynamics of periodontal indices and the index of oral hygiene. It was noticed the oral hygiene improvement, which may be present, in our opinion, due to the professional hygiene, quality control of teeth cleaning, hygienic training of children and their parents. Conclusions. Thus, observation of children with oligophrenia during two years using a complex of measures for the treatment of chronic catarrhal gingivitis and normalization of periodontal tissue ratified the effectiveness of the proposed complex by improving gingival tissue condition and oral hygiene, as well as positive dynamics in periodontal indices. | en-US |
| dc.description | Резюме. Поширеність запальних захворювань тканин пародонта у дітей із психоневрологічними розладами сягає 100 %. Стоматологічна допомога таким дітям вимагає особливого підходу, а традиційні схеми лікування та профілактики запальних захворювань тканин пародонта потребують удосконалення з урахуванням особливостей клінічного статусу дітей з олігофренією. Мета дослідження – розпрацювати та клінічно оцінити ефективність комплексу заходів для лікування хронічного катарального гінгівіту в дітей з олігофренією. Матеріали і методи. Під спостереженням перебувало 54 дитини віком 12 років з олігофренією І ст. тяжкості, у яких діагностовано хронічний катаральний гінгівіт (ХКГ). З них до основної групи ввійшло 26 дітей, 28 дітей склали групу порівняння. Лікування ХКГ у дітей основної групи здійснювали за розпрацьованою схемою, яка включала екзогенні та ендогенні заходи. У дітей групи порівняння лікування ХКГ проводили відповідно до регіональних протоколів надання стоматологічної допомоги. Оцінку ефективності комплексної терапії ХКГ у групах дослідження здійснювали через 1; 6; 12 та 24 місяці на підставі клінічних змін, параклінічних індексів, рівня гігієни порожнини рота. Результати досліджень та їх обговорення. Результати дослідження показали, що через два роки після застосування лікувально-профілактичного комплексу кількість дітей основної групи, у яких спостерігали стабілізацію стану тканин пародонта, зменшувалась, ніж на початку спостереження, проте у дітей групи порівняння цей показник був нижчим більш ніж у 1,5 раза. Ефективність запропонованого лікувально-профілактичного комплексу в дітей з олігофренією при наявності запальних процесів тканин пародонта також відображався у динаміці пародонтальних індексів та індексу гігієни порожнини рота. Відзначається покращення стану гігієни ротової порожнини, що може бути зумовлено, на нашу думку, проведенням професійної гігієни, контролем якості чищення зубів, а також гігієнічним навчанням дітей та їх батьків. Висновки. Спостереження за дітьми з олігофренією протягом двох років застосування комплексу заходів для лікування хронічного катарального гінгівіту та нормалізації стану тканин пародонта підтвердило ефективність запропонованого комплексу покращенням стану ясен та гігієни порожнини рота, а також позитивною динамікою у показниках пародонтологічних індексів. | uk-UA |
