THE STUDY OF CHANGES IN THE MARKET OF GLUCOSE MONITORING DEVICES (GLUCOMETERS) IN UKRAINE UNDER MARTIAL LAW

dc.descriptionThe aim of the work was to conduct a comparative analysis of the assortment of glucometers and test strips in Ukraine in 2021 (before the Russian Federation's full-scale invasion of Ukraine) and on May 2025 (time of martial law, introduced on 24.02.2022), to establish the peculiarities of the dynamics of the glucometer market and the provision of them to patients with diabetes. Materials and Methods. The objects of the study were the regulatory framework relating to the provision of patients with diabetes, information from the State Register of Medical Equipment, offers of pharmacies and online stores which are available to the Ukrainian consumer. Marketing, analytical, graphical, generalizing analyses and the comparison method were used. Results and Discussion. It was found that despite the martial law in Ukraine, the dynamics of the glucometer market are observed, although it has not changed quantitatively (44 models of glucometers). This indicates the stability of the offers by companies. The glucometer market in Ukraine is import-dependent. Companies from Asian countries have significantly increased their percentage of the glucometer range, which is 61.4 % of the entire market for these devices comperer with period before war. A wide range of glucometers allows patients with diabetes to choose a device according to their needs and priorities. Despite the martial law in Ukraine, reimbursement of test strips for self-monitoring of diabetes has been introduced. The number of types of test strips, excluding packaging, is 24, which are suitable for 25 models, which is more than half (56.8 %) of the entire range of glucometers on the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine. Conclusions. Despite the martial law, a wide range of glucometers allows patients with diabetes to choose a device according to their needs and priorities. Positive changes have been introduced in the provision of patients with diabetes for type 1 diabetes regarding reimbursement of test-strips contribute to improving self-monitoring of patients with diabetes and preventing complications. This practice should be extended to patients with type 2 diabetes.en-US
dc.descriptionМетою роботи стало проведення порівняльного аналізу асортименту глюкометрів та тест-смужок в Україні у 2021 р. (до повномасштабного вторгнення російської федерації) та на травень 2025 р. (час воєнного стану, що запроваджено 24.02.2022 р.), для встановлення особливостей динаміки ринку засобів моніторингу глюкози та забезпечення ними пацієнтів із ЦД. Матеріали і методи. Об’єктами дослідження слугували: нормативна база, що стосується забезпечення хворих на ЦД; інформація Державного реєстру медичної техніки; пропозиції аптек та інтернет-магазинів доступних для українського споживача. Застосовували маркетинговий, аналітичний, графічний, узагальнюючий аналізи та метод порівняння. Результати й обговорення. Встановлено, що незважаючи на воєнний стан в Україні, спостерігається динаміка ринку глюкометрів, хоча кількісно він не змінився (44 моделей глюкометрів), що свідчить про стабільність пропозицій компаній. Ринок глюкометрів в Україні імпортозалежний. Компанії країн Азії значно збільшили відсоток асортименту глюкометрів, що складає 61,4 % всього ринку цих приладів. Широкий асортимент глюкометрів дає можливість хворим на ЦД обрати прилад відповідно їх потреб та пріоритетів. Незважаючи на воєнний стан в Україні запроваджено реімбурсацію тест-смужок для самоконтролю ЦД. Кількість видів тест-смужок без урахування фасовки складає 24, які підходять до 25 моделей, що складає більше половини (56,8 %) всього асортименту глюкометрів на фармацевтичному ринку України. Висновки. Незважаючи на воєнний стан наявний широкий асортимент глюкометрів дає можливість хворим на ЦД обрати прилад відповідно потреб та пріоритетів. Запроваджені позитивні зміни в забезпеченні хворих на ЦД 1 типу щодо реімбурсації тест-смужок сприяють покращенню самоконтролю хворих та запобіганню розвитку ускладнень. Дану практику необхідно розповсюдити на пацієнтів із ЦД 2 типу.uk-UA
