STRATEGIES FOR MITIGATING BURNOUT AMONG NURSING STAFF IN HIGH- STRESS ENVIRONMENTS
Abstract
Burnout among nursing staff has emerged as a critical concern, particularly in high-stress environments such as emergency departments, intensive care units, and oncology wards. This thesis aims to explore relationship between burnout among nurses and institutional-level industry practices. This study utilized a mixed- methods approach, capturing both quantitative and qualitative data to examines the prevalence and determinants of burnout through surveys and interviews with nursing professionals. The analysis showed that there are multiple causes of burnout, including work-related causes, socio-cultural instigators, political causes and even financial causes. Given the variances of these factors, the study concludes that there is not an approach that can use uni-dimensional recommendations/solutions with efficacy, reason for which the study recommends reliance on a multi-thronged approach and provides evidence that nurses are in favor of the multi-dimensional approaches.
