Abstract
In today's educational environment, school nurses play a comprehensive role in the care of children's health. The master's degree research entitled “The specific aspects of nursing work in school institutions, typical childhood diseases, and their prevention” is dedicated to the analysis of the nurse’s role in a school environment with an emphasis on the prevention and treatment of disease in school students. Drawing on evidence from key sources such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), the literature review identified the unique aspects of health care practice in the school setting and examined the models of decision-making when working with students with mental disorders [45, 12]. The research study includes a detailed view of the methods and measures that nurses can use for the prevention and treatment of typical childhood diseases in a school environment. The aim of this study was to investigate and review the key elements in the work of a school nurse, evaluate the incidence of childhood diseases, with which school nurses work, and develop effective measures for preventing these diseases in a school environment. Key findings include methods for preventing childhood diseases, health education strategies, and the integration of technologies such as Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and telemedicine into school nursing. This study also identifies gaps in resources, training, and mental health support. The research underscores the importance of the nurse’s role in fostering a healthy school environment and provides actionable recommendations for improving school-based health services. This work references pivotal publications, including the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) guidelines and studies like Barnes et al. (2004), Bradley & Cunningham (2019), and the CDC's School Health Policies and Practices Study (2015), ensuring a comprehensive theoretical and practical foundation.
