Abstract
Additionally, this research underscores the importance of early detection and intervention in patients undergoing chemotherapy. While the exact pathophysiological mechanisms underlying CICI remain elusive, evidence points towards the disruption of neural synapses, inflammation, oxidative stress, and alterations in blood-brain barrier permeability as potential contributors. This complexity reinforces the need for a multidisciplinary approach in the management and research of CICI. Moreover, the emotional and psychological toll of CICI cannot be overlooked. Patients often express feelings of frustration, anxiety, and depression due to cognitive changes, which can affect their overall quality of life and impede their post-treatment recovery. Therefore, integrating psychological support and counseling is imperative to holistically address the multifaceted challenges faced by those afflicted. Interestingly, the increasing awareness of CICI has led to a surge in the development of technological aids and cognitive training programs. These tools, ranging from mobile applications to comprehensive cognitive rehabilitation programs, aim to help individuals regain their cognitive functions and enhance their adaptive strategies. The path forward necessitates a synergy between rigorous scientific research and compassionate patient care. Collaborative efforts between oncologists, neurologists, psychologists, and allied health professionals are crucial in developing effective strategies to minimize the impact of CICI. This holistic approach will ensure that cancer survivors not only live longer but also enjoy a life of optimal cognitive and emotional well-being.
