dc.description.abstract | Medication management is crucial in the operating room, impacting patient safety, operational efficiency, and accurate record-keeping. Challenges such as medication errors, workflow inefficiencies, and suboptimal documentation exist, jeopardizing patient safety and overall outcomes. This study aims to propose strategies for improving medication management, thereby enhancing safety, care quality, workflow efficiency, and documentation practices in the operating room. Qualitative data were collected through interviews with healthcare providers involved in medication management. The findings revealed that communication breakdowns and insufficient collaboration among healthcare team members contributed significantly to errors and delays. The fast-paced environment, competing priorities, and limited resources exacerbated these issues. Inadequate documentation was identified as a common problem, leading to discrepancies and incomplete records. Knowledge gaps among healthcare providers regarding medication administration, dosages, and documentation requirements were also noted. The findings indicate the need for healthcare organizations to prioritize communication training, foster a collaborative culture, implement interdisciplinary education programs, and hold regular team meetings. Additionally, standardized medication administration protocols, technological automation, dedicated personnel, and the integration of technology should be considered to advance medication management in the operating room. | uk |
