Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a serious and prevalent chronic disease that results from complex interactions between the heredity and the environment along with other risk factors such as obesity and inactive lifestyle. Type 2 diabetes and its complications are a serious global public health issue. The aim of the study was to investigate the special aspects of nursing work when providing care to patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus; to determine the epidemiology of diabetes mellitus, and the nursing process in and management of type 2 diabetes mellitus; to study the pathogenesis and the clinical aspects of type 2 diabetes mellitus, and modern methods of its treatment; to study the risk factors and the specific features of occurrence of potential complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus; to investigate the impact of genetic factors on the occurrence of type 2 diabetes mellitus; to define the nursing roles in the management of diabetes mellitus; and to determine the factors of and the obstacles to the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Patients in the Endocrinology Department who had type 2 diabetes mellitus and were subjects in a genetic factor study of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The management of the nursing process when working with the patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and the impact of genetic factors on the occurrence of type 2 diabetes mellitus. With this research study, we have determined epidemiology of diabetes mellitus, and the nursing process in and management of type 2 diabetes mellitus; studied the pathogenesis and the clinical aspects of type 2 diabetes mellitus, and modern methods of its treatment; studied the risk factors and the specific features of occurrence of potential complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus; investigated the impact of genetic factors on the occurrence of type 2 diabetes mellitus; defined the nursing roles in the management of diabetes mellitus; and determined the factors of and the obstacles to the treatment of type 2 diabetes. The principal methods of treatment used in patients with diabetes include diet therapy, insulin therapy and the use of oral hypoglycemic agents (such as sulfonylureas and biguanides)uk
